|
BEHZAD MIRKHANI
(b.1969) is a Persian
guitarist and composer. He
is a member of Iran House of
Music, Irish Music Rights
Organisation (IMRO), and the
Registry of Guitar Tutors
(RGT). As an RGT
registered tutor, he offers
classical guitar and
music theory exam
preparation of
the London College of Music
(LCM).
In 1990 he began to compose
a series of works including
guitar concertos, string
quartets, orchestral music
and pieces for solo guitar
and guitar with mixed
ensemble. He signed with an
Iranian record label (Avaye
Chang) and released his
debute album. Behzad
Mirkhani's "The Last Leaf”
album was established as the
first Iranian composition
for the classical guitar by
the Iranian ministry of
culture.
1991 - Releasing "Asturias"
Album containing original
guitar
compositions (Tarrega,
Mehran Rouhani, Sam Shulman,
Behzad Mirkhani), and guitar
transcriptions (Albeniz,
Chopin, Beethoven,
J.S.Bach).
1992 - Releasing "The Foal"
album containing original
guitar compositions of
Behzad
Mirkhani, inspired by a
Russian short story written
by Mikhail Sholokhov.
1993 - Composing music for
male vocal (Mehrdad
Peykarzadeh) and guitar, and
also guitar solos for the
special events which held at
the Azad University Hall,
North of Tehran.
1995 - Behzad Mirkhani wrote
a cadenza into the first
movement of Vivaldi's
Guitar Concerto in D. Later
that year he performed the
concerto as a soloist with
the Tehran Roudaki Hall
String Orchestra, conducted
by the late Fereydoun
Naseri.
1997 – Performing guitar
solos at the Austrian
Cultural Institute Tehran
(ÖKF).
1998 - "Buds" album
containing original
instrumental compositions of
Behzad Mirkhani for guitar,
piano, violin, flute,
fretless bass guitar, and
drums, released through an
Iranian record label (Tanin
Sote Coporation).
1999 - "Iran Rhapsody" album
containing original
compositions of Behzad
Mirkhani for guitar, violin,
and orchestra, inspired by
Persian folk music, released
through an Iranian record
label (Tanin Sote
Coporation).
2002 - "Guitar Dance" album
containing ensemble guitar
transcriptions of
J.S.Bach, Tchaikovsky,
Grieg, and Oscar Rieding,
released through an Iranian
record label (Chaharbaghbang
Music Institution).
2003 - "Flower Leaf" album
containing original music of
Behzad Mirkhani
for vocal, guitar, violin,
tar, and orchestra,
released through an
Iranian record label
(Chaharbaghbang Music
Institution).
In 2004, Behzad Mirkhani
offered his original
compositions for nylon
guitars, strings and Piano
in a CD named “70 Minutes
for Guitar Romances”.
The sound of Spring's
immigrant birds and other
sounds of nature bring a
splash of relaxing colour to
the music. This CD also
includes some transcriptions
from J.S. Bach, Beethoven
(Adagio from Moonlight
Sonata), Tchaikovsky, Verdi,
Grieg, Brahms, Oscar Rieding
and Akbar Mohseni
(considered the dean of
Iranian composers & a
great performer of tar and
Barbat [lute] that is
Persian Oud). The album
released in the USA through
CDBABY. Also release in 2004
was the Flute And Piano
Recital, "Three Images From
Iran" Composed By Behzad
Mirkhani & Performed by
Sam Akkas and Neil Cloake in
London (Polish Centre).
In 2005, influenced by '70s
instrumental music, Behzad
wrote the romantic score of
“Chi Mai” CD for a smooth
jazz orchestra. He was
admitted as a member of
"Irish Music Rights
Organisation". The
album released in the USA
through CDBABY.

Elena Rojas and Sylwia Kloc
in New York (LeFrak Concert
Hall, Aaron Copland School
of Music).
2008 - Violin and

Concert Hall, Mannes College
of Music, & LeFrak
Concert Hall, Aaron Copland

Later that year "The Last

through an Iranian record
label (Ava Khorshid
Company).
2009 - Violin and Guitar
Recital, “Persian Abstract”
& "Lori : an image from
Lorestan province, Iran"
composed by Behzad Mirkhani,
performed by Elena Rojas
and Sylwia Kloc in New York
(WMP Concert Hall, &
LeFrak Concert Hall,
Aaron Copland School of
Music). Later that year
he was admitted as a member
of "Iran House of Music".
